Louis Walsh has branded Boyzone as a `yesterday's men' dropped the band after and he advised distribution.

Walsh told Heat magazine: "They're like Blue - yesterday's men. There's too much competition for them."

He added: "You have to have something amazing as there's so much talent out there: JLS, One Direction, Westlife, The Wanted."

Louis added that things changed following the death of band member Stephen Gately in 2009.

He said: "Boyzone can carry on, but it wasn't working.

"It was great while it lasted, but it's time for me to move on."

Meanwhile, band member Shane Lynch said: "No, Boyzone are not splitting up.

"That's just Louis being his usual self. It's all news to us.

"He's been saying that he's been leaving since 1993. I wouldn't listen to any of those rumours."

So I ended up doing that -- I didn't think I was making an album, I think that's why some of the things are not aimed at anyone or anything. They are just me having fun."

JLS told This Morning: "We always thought Gary Barlow would be a good judge."

Aston Merrygold said: "I think it's time for the show to evolve and I'm sure Mr Simon Cowell will poke his head in once or twice in the show!

"He does so much for the show, and Cheryl and Dannii did so much, and Louis is still there."

Asked if they would like to mentor the acts during the series, Marvin Humes said: "We'd love to. We are big fans of the show so that would be amazing!"
